How SellThru is calculated

Calculating SellThru#

In it's simplest form SellThru is based on a couple of factors:

  • Number of units sold - this will be the total units sold for a product sold between the start of the season and today's date.
  • On hand inventory - this will include all inventory received up to today

It's calculated as follows:

Number of units sold

/

( Inventory on hand + Number of units sold )

SellThru dimensions#

We calculate the SellThru rate for the following dimensions:

  • Vendor
  • Product
  • Variant
Possible future features

Returns#

Currently Seasoning doesn't specifically handle returns - instead it considers the on hand inventory on any given day - which will include any inventory that has been returned to stock.

In the future we may calculate what proportion of products have been returned so that you can identify products with particularly low or high return rates.

Please get in touch if you'd be interested in this feature to discuss how you might use it.

Additional SellThru dimensions#

In the future we may support calculation for additional dimensions e.g. collections or product type. If this would be of interest please get in touch.

Products in multiple seasons#

  • Currently Seasoning assumes that each seasonal product will be sold in a single season.
  • You shouldn't need to have a product in two seasons which are "In Progress". If you do set up seasons like this then sales will be counted for both seasons.
  • In the future we're thinking of adding the ability for products to be in multiple seasons - this will make the calculation more complex and we're keen to understand how you'd use this capability.
